SOCIAL GROUPS

There are Social Groups at Lundy's Lane United Church to suit a wide variety of interests. Look through this page to find a group for you!

United Church Women (UCW)

The "United Church Women" at Lundy's Lane United Church conduct important charitable work within the Church, in our community, and globally. Meetings are held monthly. Interested women are welcome to join - please contact Allison at the office for more details.

Men's Club

The Men's Club meets several times a year on the second Wednesday of the month from September to May. Evenings generally start with a meal at 6PM and are followed by a guest speaker. There is a nominal charge for the meal. All men from the Church are welcome. Speakers for the 2011/12 are:

From money raised at the dinner meetings, the Men's Club supports a child through World Vision. Other funds are used for various activities at the Church (e.g., Gardening Supplies). Every second year, the Men's Club hosts an Auction at the Church - a major event where donated items are auctioned off to raise funds for the Church.

Social Committee

The volunteer Teams of the Social Club provide food and refreshments for many functions that occur at the Church. There are five teams with 7 or 8 people per team including a team leader. Teams take turns to cater social events, large or small - such as funeral receptions, birthdays, lunches etc. Any monies raised are divided between the church general fund and the UCW.

The Social Committee has an Executive Committee that includes a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. There is one meeting a year to plan ahead and review the previous year. If you are interested in joining the Social Committee, please contact the Church office.

Craft Groups

There are two craft groups at Lundy's Lane United Church:

• Crafters is a group to learn a new craft or to enjoy some fellowship as you do your own craft with others. Come meet knitters, crocheters, sewers, quilters, cross stitchers, beaders, greeting card makers. This group has been around over 50 years. New members are always welcome. We meet at 10 a.m. each Tuesday morning at the church and bring our lunch so we can eat, drink tea and visit at noon. This craft group makes a substantial contribution to our church life and workings with it's 2 main events each year (Spring Bazaar and Christmas Bazaar).
• Card-i-acs meet every Thursday afternoon at 9 a.m. at the church. We make beautiful cards and new members are welcome.

Girl Guides

Brownies meet weekly on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. from Fall to Spring.

8th Niagara Scouting

Weekly meetings from Fall to Spring for Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts. Contact the church office for more information.
